Aiden McGeady training with Sunderland Under-23 squad as Phil Parkinson reveals latest on winger's future
McGeady has no future at Sunderland AFC after Parkinson made it clear he was free to leave the club when the January transfer window opens next month.
The winger has been training with the club’s younger players in a bid to keep himself fit ahead of a possible move next month.

Hide AdParkinson was asked about the McGeady situation ahead of the visit of Bolton Wanderers and whether there were any updates.


Parkinson said: “Obviously he can’t move on until January. We had that conversation to give him the opportunity to prepare and to give us the ability to look at who we were going to bring in to replace him.
“He is fine. He has been training with the Under-23s. We want to focus on the lads who will be here.

Hide Ad“He wants to keep himself as fit as possible if a move does materialise then he is ready to play straight away."
When quizzed on whether there was any way back for McGeady, Parkinson made it clear the Republic of Ireland international had no future at the club.
He added: “From my point of view and the owner, we have had a chat about it, we feel it is the right thing for the club moving forward.”
The Sunderland boss has previously said that it was not related to one specific incident, and factors both on and off the pitch had played a part in his hugely controversial decision
