Sunderland AFC transfer gossip: Cats agree to sign transfer listed ex-Wigan Athletic defender - reports
Sunderland have “agreed to sign” Morecambe defender Connor Pye – according to reports.
Football Insider have stated that the 18-year-old former Wigan Athletic left-back, who has two years left on his current deal, will make the move to Wearside after impressing at the League One club.
The defender will probably link up with Sunderland’s youth team, however, and is unlikely to go into Alex Neil’s first-team set-up just yet.
The player made his professional debut against Sunderland’s North East rivals, Hartlepool United, in the EFL Trophy last season but has since found himself transfer listed by Morecambe due to budget restraints.
