Former Sunderland and Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane cracked a funny joke alongside Micah Richards recently.

The Manchester United legend won the Championship with Sunderland in 2007 before keeping the club in the top flight the following season.

Keane, however, departed Wearside midway through the Black Cats’ second season in the Premier League owing to a fallout with Ellis Short.

That left Ricky Sbragia in temporary charge.

The Scot eventually guided Sunderland to safety on the final day of the season after Aston Villa defeated Newcastle United to relegate the Magpies.

Following his Stadium of Light departure, Keane had an unsuccessful stint as Ipswich Town boss before carrying out assistant manager roles at Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and the Republic of Ireland.

Speaking on Sky’s Euro 2020 preview show ‘Road To Wembley’, Keane and former England defender Richards cracked a joke involving Sunderland and Ipswich Town.

“Paintballing! Brilliant,” Keane responded when asked what activities he enjoyed. “But you always know when teams are having a hard time when they’re paintballing."

“You don’t do it when you’re winning,” Richards said.

Keane replied: “You know you’re heading for relegation when you’re paintballing.

“I was doing that every week at Sunderland and Ipswich Town.

“I thought a bit of paintballing will keep us up.

“Are we doing any training today? No no lads, we’re doing a bit of paintballing - and then we’re going for a Chinese!”
