Hit the crossbar early in the second half but struggled throughout the game. Beaten too often by Samuel and struggled on the ball. Took a horrendous kick to the face late on and was taken off in serious discomfort. 4
Not helped by the players in front of him but distribution was poor and played too many aimless long balls forward. Uncertain. 4
Was frustrated by Marcus Bean, who eventually saw red in stoppage time. Was well off his usual pace. 5
Forced the equaliser with his shot from distance. Struggled to control the game as he usually does but delivered some good set pieces. 6
Never got into the game and didn't win the duels in midfield that you would expect. Saw red from the bench after a melee in the dugouts. 5
Started brightly and beat his marker regularly but faded from there as his side as pinned back. Had a decent effort blocked before being taken off. 5
Looked the most likely and almost opened the game up with some fantastic skill. Sunderland couldn't find him often enough, particularly in the first half. 6
Barely had a kick, but the service to him was very poor for most of the game. 5
Did little wrong defensively after coming on at the break. Little chance to overlap and offer a threat in attack. 6
Was struggling to make an impact until his late goal, a good finish that rescued what could be a pivotal point for his side. Late injury will be a major concern for the Black Cats. 6
Started brightly after coming on but little impact in the final third. 5
