Made a very good stop just before half time and could do nothing about the quite brilliant penalty from Billy Kee. Commanded his box very well. 6
Got forward whenever possible and battled throughout, but made little impression. Unlucky that a fine cross was somehow turned wide by Wyke early in the second half. 6
Struggled to contain the Accrington strikeforce, with Smyth getting a lot of joy down the left. Distribution was erratic. 5

Dived in too quickly to give away a penalty and his confidence was shaken after that. Looked uncertain throughout. 5
Started very brightly and put some good crosses in, but endured a frustrating evening after that, particularly in the final third. 5
Overrun in the opening half as Sunderlands midfield two struggled. Arrival of Maguire allowed him to help set the tempo and dictate far better. 6
Another who came to life in the comeback but struggled before then. Took his goal well and started to win the ball back after an uncertain start. 6
Struggled to make an any kind of impact on the game. Did improve with his team as they fought back from the brink but unsurprisingly replaced by Morgan with fifteen minutes to play. 5
Maguires arrival freed up him and he looked a completely different player after a very poor start to the game. Suddenly caused havoc everywhere he went and took his goal well. 6
Missed a glorious opportunity to equalise just moments before Accringtons second goal. Didnt hold it up well as the two striker experiment backfired. 5
A difficult performance to assess. Again his movement was good and again he carved out chances Sunderland have not done all season. But big early misses were costly again. Tired late on. 5
Turned the game on its head, showing quality and composure. Would never be out of the team if he could produce this level consistently. 8
A frustrating cameo, going close with one effort but failing to make much of an impression otherwise. 5
Came close with a drive late on and injected a bit of urgency to the midfield. 6
