The hosts led by the 17th minute, thanks to efforts James Huntley and Brian Harrison, but Alnwick produced a storming fightback to take the points when Josh May (2), Liam Brooks and Brad McClelland scored.

Tow Law Town were another side to erase a two-goal deficit on their travels.

Chris Dickinson and Craig Hutchinson appeared to have Billingham Town in control, but, following Dean Thexton’s strike, Lee Blades levelled in a 2-2 draw.

There were mixed fortunes for the two new sides.

Stockton Town hit hapless Willington for six as the goals flowed from Kallum Hannah, with a brace, Tony Johnson, Stephen Roberts, Adam Nicholson and Joe Carter.

Blyth Town, though, lost out 2-1 at home to Hebburn Town, whose marksmen were Channon North and Jason Blackburn. David Robinson halved the deficit, but Blyth, who attracted a crowd of 257, were unable to find an equaliser.

An only goal by Josh Holland proved sufficient for Ryton and Crawcrook Albion away to Crook Town, while Whickham strolled to a convincing 3-0 victory against visitors Brandon United courtesy of strikes from David Fitzpatrick, Stephen Aiston and Mark Fitzpatrick.
