And although Sunday’s 2-1 win at Burnley boosted their survival hopes, Steve Bruce’s side still aren’t sure what division they’ll be after the summer.

Nevertheless, here’s the latest rumours doing the rounds on social media:

Steve Howey: Newcastle should pay no more than £16m for Joe Willock

Former Newcastle defender Steve Howey says his former club should be looking to spend no more than £16million to sign Joe Willock permanently from Arsenal.

The 21-year-old has impressed since joining on loan in January by scoring two goals in eight appearances, despite not starting the Magpies’ two previous games.

It remains to be seen whether Steve Bruce will be tempted into a permanent deal for Willock but if so, Howey has revealed how much he believes the attacking midfielder is worth.

He told Football FanCast: “I think you should be looking at something like £15-16 million.

"Yes, of course, Arsenal could easily put something in a deal so that if he does brilliantly then they would get money from any potential future sale.”

Rangers could drop out of Kyle Joseph race

Rangers could pull out of the race to sign Wigan Athletic sensation Kyle Joseph, leaving Newcastle and Celtic to battle for his signature.

That’s according to Football Insider as the 19-year-old prepares to leave the League One team when his contract expires this summer.

Last week, it was claimed the Magpies were favourites to seal a deal, however Celtic had not given up hope of signing him.

And with Rangers potentially out of the picture, that clears the path for the duo to battle it out for the Scotland youth international.

Newcastle ‘scouted’ goalkeeper on Monday – and he dropped a howler

As per Turkish outlet Takvim, Newcastle were among three Premier League clubs – including Aston Villa and Crystal Palace – scouting Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir on Monday evening.

However, Bayindir had a moment to forget in the 3-1 victory over Gaziantep when he fumbled Alexandru Maxim’s free-kick over the line for 1-1.

The 22-year-old is reportedly valued at £12million and has started all but one of Fenerbahce’s 33 league matches this season, keeping 10 clean sheets.
