Newcastle United star set to sign new contract as ex-Magpies undergoes medical at Premier League rivals
Jacob Murphy is reportedly set to sign a new long-term contract at Newcastle United following his revival on Tyneside.
The winger initially struggled to live up to expectations when Rafa Benitez signed him for £12million from Norwich City in 2017.
He spent the second half of Benitez’s final season in charge on loan at West Bromwich Albion before Steve Bruce loaned him to Sheffield Wednesday for a year,
But having impressed in pre-season, the 26-year-old went on to play an integral part in United’s successful battle against the drop last term, excelling at right wing-back.
And as per the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, the player is expected to commit his future to his boyhood club, despite reported interest from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray, Leeds and Southampton.
Meanwhile, former Newcastle loanee Danny Rose is undergoing a medical at Watford.
The left-back is available on a free transfer after leaving Tottenham Hotspur and is due to sign a two-year deal.
