According to a Football Insider exclusive, United have “reached an agreement” to sign the RB Leipzig winger “following a breakthrough in negotiations”.

The report claims the Magpies are confident of completing the deal in the next few days after reaching a “broad agreement” with the Bundesliga outfit.

Lookman, signed last summer from Everton in a £22million deal, has found his Bundesliga opportunities limited, and is reportedly keen to move in this window.

The Gazette understands Newcastle are looking for a loan with an option, and NOT an obligation, to buy Lookman.

Speaking about the transfer window, Steve Bruce said: “We’ve had a couple of knock-backs already. We’ll keep working away. It’s very, very difficult. I won’t just bring in players for the sake of it. We’ll see what the next two or three weeks bring.”
