The frequent links to Nunes spiral from the beginning of the year when it was claimed United tried to sign him on a loan-to-buy deal.

Sporting, however, could offload the 22-year-old this summer instead for around £17m – and St James’s Park is viewed as a potential destination.

Billy Gilmour considers Chelsea loan exit – report

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is reportedly considering leaving Stamford Bridge on loan next season.

Gilmour, 19, has featured just three times in the Premier League since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard.

Indeed, The Sun reports his lack of gametime has left Gilmour mulling over his short-term future as he prepares to represent Scotland at Euro 2020.

Newcastle were credited with interest in Gilmour earlier this month, along with teammate Tammy Abraham.

European clubs eye Jacob Murphy – report

Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy is wanted by Bayer Leverkusen and Galatasaray, according to Football Insider.

The 26-year-old excelled in his new-found right-wing back role during the latter stages of last season as he played a key role in keeping the club in the Premier League.

And his performances have reportedly been recognised across Europe, with the two teams mentioned above joining Leeds, Burnley, Southampton, Watford and Rangers in Murphy’s list of admirers.

It is understood Steve Bruce is keen to negotiate a new contract with Murphy as he enters the final year of his current.
