Newcastle United handed shock odds to lift Premier League title as former left-back joins newly-promoted club
Newcastle United are 750/1 to win the Premier League next season after the club’s 2021/22 fixture list was announced.
Steve Bruce’s side host West Ham United on the opening day of the season, while a trip to Burnley is their final day destination.
December, in particular, looks a tough month with Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United to play in the space of 11 days.
To no surprise, the odds – via BetFair – are stacked against the Magpies mounting a shock title challenge having fought off relegation last term.
And on the subject of dropping into the Championship, United are 11/4 to end the campaign in the bottom three.
Meanwhile, the Premier League will announce its first set of TV picks by Monday, June 21.
Unlike last season, all matches will no longer be broadcasted live on TV as fans prepare to return to stadiums.
Danny Rose joins Watford
Former Newcastle full-back Danny Rose has joined Watford on a two-year contract.
The 30-year-old, who was released by Tottenham Hotspur after 14 years, will officially join as a free agent on July 1.
Rose spent half a season on Tyneside in 2019/20 but failed to convince Steve Bruce into signing him permanently during his 13 appearances.
Indeed, the former England left-back’s last Premier League outing came whilst at Newcastle after he was frozen out at Spurs by Jose Mourinho.
Speaking about signing for the Hornets, Rose told the club website: "I’m over the moon that I’m here considering the year I’ve had – I’ve not played for a while.
"I do feel very, very fortunate to have this opportunity again.”
