Marca claim that ‘all roads could lead to Newcastle’ for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale as the Bernabeu outfit name their asking price for the Welshman.

Bale is happy at Los Blancos but has been a bit-part player for the last three years and manager Zinedine Zidane would allow the 30-year-old to leave when the transfer window reopens.

Spanish publication Marca claim Real would accept around £17.6million for the forward, who has been linked with a move to China, USA and a Premier League return with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

According to the report, as of last summer Spurs’ claims on Bale have now expired. They state the London Stadium outfit could have first refusal of Bale within 72 hours of another Premier League club’s bid, but that contract clause ran out in July.

Bale’s wages are reported to total £15million-per-year – but the report claims that will not be an issue for Newcastle’s owners-in-waiting, PCP Capital Partners, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and Reuben Brothers.

The report states: "Newcastle will become one of the richest clubs in the Premier League.Mohamed bin Salman, the main backer of the takeover bid, has riches estimated at eight billion euros himself, while the Public Investment Fund is worth a further 300 billion euros.

"As MARCA understand, Bale's name is now being talked about as a priority for the new owners, who would have the money to afford him.

"The prospective owners have also earmarked Mauricio Pochettino as their desired new coach and the Argentine would be in favour of a move for Bale."

Bale’s Real contract runs until the summer of 2022.

The report continues: “The option of moving to the United States would only arise to Bale once his contract at Real Madrid expires, leaving Newcastle with very little competition this summer. So, if a good offer comes in from St James' Park, it would be difficult to say no.”

Bale started his career at Southampton before moving to Spurs in 2007. Six years later he made the switch to La Liga. In total he has 33 goals in 83 appearances for Wales.
