Hide AdManaging director Lee Charnley this week gave Carver a “message of support” in the wake of a chant against him from fans during last week’s game against Crystal Palace.
Carver, previously Alan Pardew’s No2, has acknowledged the dissent ahead of this evening’s Premier League game against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium (kick-off 5.30).
“There ares always people who are going to be against me, because there are people out there who would love to be in my position,” said Carver.

“This hasn’t just happened. I’ve had to work extremely hard for it.
“There are always going to be people out there who’ll have a go at you. You have to deal with it.

“I only hear about things when people come to me and say ‘what about X, Y, Z saying that?’
“I’m trying to create something. This is not about me or about Lee Charnley, this is about Newcastle United on the pitch with a product trying to be given the best support possible.

“That’s what these guys (Charnley) are trying to create by saying ‘let’s support this guy, let’s support the team’. Let’s not make them out to be bad fans, because they’re not.”
Boyhood fan Carver admitted after Newcastle’s FA Cup defeat to Leicester City last month that he would have booed at the final whistle had he been in the away end.

“Our fans are very knowledgeable people. I genuinely mean that. I think were fortunate in the North East to have very knowledgeable fans.
“They’re very, very good, very fair. They love the game, so when people start having a go, I can half understand that.”

“What it does is it gives somebody a voice. You might have a 15-year-old kid who has an opinion, puts it out and all of a sudden it starts a discussion.
“All of a sudden this lad, this Joe Bloggs get a bit of an ego cos he’s got all these followers.
“That’s out of my hands.”
