The Magpies were without 11 squad members for their FA Cup visit to Rochdale on Saturday – and saw forwards Yoshinori Muto and Miguel Almiron limp off during the 1-1 draw at Spotland.

But the club have announced that Almiron (hamstring), along with Ciaran Clark (calf), Paul Dummett (groin), Jetro Willems (groin), Andy Carroll (hip) and Dwight Gayle (hamstring) have all returned to full training this week. Clark, Dummett, Willems and Gayle all took part in the session on Monday, while Carroll and Almiron joined in on Tuesday.

Bruce's options could also be boosted by the return of skipper Jamaal Lascelles and Allan Saint-Maximin at Molineux.

Lascelles is scheduled to be out training with the first-team towards the end of the week, while Saint-Maximin is out running on the grass but not yet fit enough to be involved in the full sessions.

A statement on the club website confirmed: “Captain Jamaal Lascelles, who hasn't played since he was hurt in November's victory over AFC Bournemouth, will also be back in full training later this week."

It continued: “Meanwhile Allan Saint-Maximin has also been back on the grass over the last few days as he makes good progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury.”

Muto, Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schar and Jonjo Shelvey are out.
