Abraham, 23, is likely to push to leave Stamford Bridge after playing just 230 minutes since Thomas Tuchel took charge in January.

Steve Bruce’s side, along with Aston Villa and Leicester City, have identified the England striker as a potential target but his £40million is likely to be too much.

West Ham, meanwhile, are pushing for a loan deal, which could be an avenue for Newcastle to explore, however Abraham would need some convincing to sign a contract extension.

Newcastle show interest in Chelsea defender – reports

Newcastle are showing interest in on-loan Swansea City defender Marc Guehi – but a move appears to be unlikely.

The Athletic reports Chelsea, Guehi’s parent club, have trigged a 12-month extension in his contract but could cash in around the £15m-£20m mark.

While the England under-21s man is highly regarded in West London, discussions over whether to loan or sell him this summer are set to take place.

Bruce’s side and West Ham have looked at Guehi as an option but Crystal Palace, Southampton and Swansea the most serious interest.

The 29-year-old scored his first top-flight goal in August 2015 and has now hit the 50 mark, despite suffering two serious knee injuries since then.

He told NUFC.co.uk: "For me growing up as a youngster, watching Match of the Day and watching the Premier League, to now have an award for scoring 50 goals in that league so far is obviously an amazing achievement for myself and something I never thought I'd do.

"The aim now is to try and get to 100 before I finish my career. I always want more, I'm always trying to achieve more and better myself and now it's about trying to get another 47 goals to get to the one hundred club."
