Leeds United ‘enquire’ about Newcastle United ‘target’

Leeds United have reportedly joined the race to sign AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo this month with Calciomercato reporting they have enquired over a potential deal for the midfielder. Zaniolo has just a year and a half left on his deal at the Serie A side and has been valued at €35m by Roma.

Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have all been credited with an interest in the Italian this month, however, the two London clubs are viewed as more likely destinations than Tyneside or West Yorkshire. Zaniolo has played 17 times in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side this season.

Newcastle United delivered double transfer ‘blow’

The Telegraph report that Newcastle United believe James Maddison and Ruben Neves would prefer moves elsewhere should they leave Leicester City and Wolves respectively. Both players have been tipped to leave their current clubs in the summer and have great interest from around the Premier League in their services, however, it appears St James’s Park will not be their eventual destination.

Arsenal ‘agree deal’ for Leandro Trossard

Speculation surrounding Trossard’s likely departure from Brighton has increased over the last few weeks with the Belgian suffering a public breakdown in relationship with Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi. Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Belgian throughout the January transfer window, however, it now appears his destination may not be the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That’s because Arsenal have now ‘entered talks’ over a potential move for the wantaway winger this month and, according to TalkSport, have agreed a £27m fee for the Belgian. Arsenal reportedly see Trossard as an alternative to Mykhailo Mudryk after the Ukrainian made the switch to Chelsea, despite a protracted transfer saga with the Gunners.

Trossard has just six-months left on his current deal at the Amex Stadium but Brighton have the option to extend this. Newcastle United had also been linked with a move for the 28-year-old.
