Middlesbrough & England U18 ace Harry Chapman snapped up by Barnsley

Middlesbrough midfielder Harry Chapman has joined Barnsley on loan until the end of the season.

Hartlepool-born Chapman, 18, is yet to make his first-team debut for Boro but is highly rated with Newcastle United and Arsenal both previously linked with him.

Described as an “exceptional talent”, Chapman has been tipped for a bright future in the game.

The teenager was a regular in Boro’s Under-19s’ UEFA Youth League campaign and is available for Barnsley’s game against Crewe this weekend.

“I’m delighted to have Harry join us, he is an exceptional talent,” said Barnsley’s acting head coach Paul Heckingbottom.

Chapman, a former pupil at Dyke House Sports & Technology, has been a regular for Middlesbrough’s Under-21 side this season.

The Academy product featured in their recent 3-2 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

This is his first spell away from Middlesbrough, joining the likes of Adam Jackson out on loan.

Jackson is on loan at League Two Pools and has impressed at centre-back alongside Matthew Bates.
