South Shields, Jarrow and Newcastle University are among the clubs to feature this week, in what will be a new weekly feature with the list published every Monday on the Sunderland Echo.

5. Winners: Newcastle University
In only their second season competing in the FA Vase, the Northern League Division Two side sent four-time Vase winners Whitley Bay out of the competition with a stunning 4-1 win at Hillheads. A Josh Hammett brace and a goal apiece from Timothy Browne and Niza Chilufya gave their side their first ever win in the competition. Photo: Pete Norton
6. Loser: Jarrow supporter takes a tumble
It was a good weekend for Jarrow as they came through a penalty shoot-out against Steeton to reach the second qualifying round of the FA Vase. However, one supporter got a bit over-enthusiastic with his celebrations and took a closer look at the Cougar Park pitch. Photo: Jarrow FC
7. Losers: More cards than Clintons at South Shields
South Shields got their Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign underway with a 3-0 home win against Mickleover FC on Saturday. But the busiest man at the 1st Cloud Arena was the referee as he handed out 12 yellow cards – six for each side - the game. Actually, now I think about it, maybe the FA should be added to the winners list given the fine money they’ll receive! Photo: Kev Wilson
8. Losers: Bishop Auckland
Ian Chandler knows a thing or two about winning the FA Vase after winning the competition on four occasions during his time as a player and a manager at Whitley Bay. But his hopes of added a fifth Vase to his haul this season came to an end at Billingham Synthonia romped to a 5-1 win over his Bishop Auckland side at Heritage Park. Photo: Joe Gorman
