Whitley Bay, Bishop Auckland and Sunderland West End are among the clubs to feature, in what will be a new weekly feature with the list published every Monday on the Sunderland Echo.
Mark is our non-league expert and will continue to bring you the very best coverage from all the clubs in our area this season.
5. Winners: Martin Swales (Sunderland RCA)
Sunderland RCA have enjoyed the FA Cup in recent seasons and have progressed into the first qualifying round three times in the last four years after Saturday’s 2-0 win at Northern League Division One rivals Thornaby. The win was even more satisfying for RCA manager Martin Swales after summer signings Callum Hope and James Fairley both found the net to set up a home tie against NPL North West Division side Prescot Cables. 6. Losers: Consett and Hebburn Town supporters
The week started with a flurry of excitement as supporters of the Northern League Division One rivals started planning to make their way to Wembley for the FA Vase Final at the end of the month. However, the DCMS’ decision to cut the ticket allocation to 1,000 and the Football Association’s move to postpone Non-League Finals Day means that the wait goes on for a trip to the home of football. 7. Losers: Didier Agathe (Durham City)
The former Celtic star was a surprise appointment when he was named as Durham City manager over the summer. However, despite showing some signs of improvement, a 3-1 defeat at Jarrow on Saturday means that the Citizens are yet to pick up a league point in their opening three games under their new manager. 8. Losers: Dunston UTS
The FA Cup has provided some very happy memories in recent years for Dunston UTS – but sadly, through no fault of their own, this season’s run was over before it begun as they were forced to forfeit their preliminary round tie at Whitley Bay and withdraw from the competition after two players tested positive for Covid-19.
