Sunderland fans react to news that owner Stewart Donald is actively trying to sell the club

On Monday evening, BBC Newcastle claimed that Donald has taken the decision to seek a new buyer for the club, doing so with ‘a heavy heart’.

The news comes following the #DonaldOut social media campaign and co-ordinated statement from supporters' groups Roker Report, Wise Men Say, A Love Supreme and the Red and White Army which urged Donald to sell the club.

Donald became owner of The Black Cats following their relegation from the Championship to League One in 2018. But with the club languishing in the bottom half of the third tier table, fans have directed their criticism at the club’s hierarchy – here is how people reacted to the news…
