FA Cup: Salford City-Hartlepool United, Carl Magnay should be fit to lead Pools

The Pools skipper was forced off in last week’s 1-0 home defeat to Oxford United after taking a bang to the head.

But Pools and head physio, Ian Gallagher, hope he will be passed fit for the BBC2-televised tie at Moor Lane.

Magnay suffered some blurred vision but, thankfully, no concussion, and he trained with the rest of the squad at Maiden Castle this morning.

Manager Ronnie Moore will leave it until tomorrow before finalising his side.

“Maggers will probably be OK,” Moore told his media conference today.

“But we will leave that one until the last minute.”

However, Michael Woods remains out while Kal Naismith is cup-tied, having played for Portsmouth in the first round.

“Woodsy has no chance with a dead leg, which is causing problems,” said Moore.

“We have one missing in Naismith because he’s played for Portsmouth in the competition, so he’s got a fortnight off really because he can’t play against Pompey next weekend either.

“He will be a miss for us, but it’s an opportunity for someone else to come in.”
