The 19-year-old has impressed during his breakthrough campaign on Tyneside, scoring home and away against Manchester United in the Premier League.

But with his current contract due to expire in the summer, Italian giants in AC and Inter Milan have been alerted to the situation, according to The Times. From February 1, Longstaff will be free to agree pre-contract terms with any club from outside of the UK.

The Magpies academy product is still on an initial pro-deal that he agreed following his scholarship in 2018 with his basic wage believed to be less than £1,000 per week.

So far Newcastle have been unable to settle on a new contract for the younger Longstaff brother, who could end up leaving for nothing if he’s unable to be tied down.
