Durham Alliance Combination League: Coundon strength too much for Hall Farm's battlers

Coundon & Leeholme got their title push back on track with a fine 4-0 success at Hall Farm.

The Sunderland side had hoped to follow up Oddies’ win at Coundon the previous week, but last year’s Durham Alliance champions cruised to a 4-0 victory, dropping their hosts down to fourth place.

Ben Trotter’s brace was added to by Ben Collinson and Connor Hughes, with Paul Bailes man of the match.

Scott Seldon stood out for Hall Farm.

Second-top Coundon also secured a 2-0 midweek victory at Bishop Auckland Reserves, with Collinson and Joe Hardaker on target.

Farringdon Detached succumbed 5-0 at home to impressive visitors Brandon United Development.

Robson Brown backed up doubles from Adam Burnham and sub Adam Purvis.

Sunderland University were no match for hosts Bishop Auckland Reserves, who eased to an 8-2 win thanks largely to hat-tricks from Liam Gill and star man Danny Wales.

Robert Gibson and Dale Sadler also netted for Bishops.

Star man Ryan Kennedy and Nick Aiston bagged the students’ consolations.

Leaders Durham City Reserves fought hard to secure a 1-0 home victory over Killingworth YPC at Durham Racecourse, Kyle Patton bagging the only goal.

Andrew Brown stood out for City.

Glenn Hendrix netted the consolation goal for Sherburn Village WMC, who had Chris Brown sent off in a 3-1 defeat at Hartlepool Reserves.

Two-goal Carl O’Sullivan and Matthew Newbury notched for Pool. Jamie Taylor was Sherburn’s stand-out performer.

Washington AFC remain without a point following an 11-0 drubbing at third-placed Redcar Town.

Hat-tricks from Alex Anderson and Stuart Poulter were topped by four goals from sub Ryan Bennions, with Dale Mendum also notching past man-of-the-match keeper Richard Corrigan.

Wheatley Hill WMC turned on the style to hand out a 10-2 beating to visitors Wallsend Town.

Lliam Cockerill, star man John Davies and Tony Ogden all notched twice, backed by efforts from Lee Westgarth, Shaun Jackson, Joe Smith and sub Brett Carr.

Derek Graham fired both for Wallsend, who had sub David Brown sent off.
