Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole was a frustrated figure as his side could only take a point from their home game against Darlington RA.

Cole’s side fell behind just before the half-hour when Ewan Forster edged the former Northern League club in front but a free-kick from Liam Mulvain ensured that the spoils were shared.

Silksworth have suffered just one defeat in their last five games and they could move into contention for a top-five place if they win next Saturday’s visit to Coxhoe Athletic.

The Silksworth boss told The Echo: “I think we should be beating sides like them if we want to be challenging at the top end. It was a similar game to Wednesday night, we had the better chances but we found a way to win that game. It’s really frustrating because we are creating chances, we missed a sitter in the last minute, and our delivery has been appalling. Their goal was sloppy defending, and that was the only real chance they had. We dominated the game, but we haven’t won.”

Boldon CA manager David Crumbie hailed his side after they claimed a ninth consecutive win against Chester-le-Street United.

A hat-trick from in-form Levi Collins and another from former South Shields man Dan Wright helped Boldon to a 4-1 win at the Riverside as they moved five points clear at the top.

Crumbie told The Echo: “We are delighted to have made it nine wins out of nine and it’s something we never really thought about. This league is so hard and there really aren’t any easy games. Levi and Dan are both quality players and have really shown their ability so far.”
