Classical music with a twist brought huge crowds to Sunderland 10 years ago and no-one seemed to mind when the heavens opened.
In 2016, Hacienda Classical came to Herrington Country Park having already performed to sell-out audiences in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Brighton and Lancaster.
It was staged by Northern Sessions, Sunderland Live’s in-house music promoter and promised an evening of dance classics with a twist.
A 40-piece string ensemble from Manchester’s Camerata Orchestra performed some of the biggest tunes from the heyday of the Manchester scene, born out of the now legendary Hacienda nightclub. They were joined by Mike Pickering and Graeme Park who were among the original DJs at the club, as well as members of the AMC Choir.
But we want to know if you were there and what you remember about the huge event.
We know that you got soaked but what else do you remember about the day. Tell us more by emailing [email protected]
