If you have a bit of an artistic flair, there’s a great opportunity to flex your drawing skills this week during a televised life drawing class.

How does it work?

The BBC has launched a brand new TV show which invites the nation to pick up their pencils and join in with a live life drawing masterclass.

Viewers will learn the art of how to reflect the nude human form and will have the opportunity to draw models in a variety of poses, learning tips on reflecting the various nuances of the body.

Drawing the Nation Together aired on BBC Four on Tuesday 12 May, inspiring amateur artists across the UK to try their hand at capturing a series of life model poses, based on classical works of art.

The programme is presented by Josie d’Arby and features tips and tricks from art experts Lachlan Goudie, Diana Ali and Nicky Philipps.

The new show is a follow up to Live Drawing Live! Which aired on BBC Four in February.

How can I watch it?

If you missed the episode on TV, it is still available to watch online on BBC iPlayer.

And if you want to brush up your drawing skills beforehand, there are a series of clips on the BBC website, offering a guide on drawing the face, hands, shadow and getting proportions right, which should help when creating your masterpiece.

There is also a simple guide on finding your own individual artistic style from expert Lachlan Goudie, along with various other helpful style tips.
