Nuisance bikers leave cars and pedestrians covered in mud as police vow to up patrols

Residents reported the anti-social behaviour involving quad and bike riders across Shotton Colliery to the police after a biker sprayed mud over roads and cars on Saturday, March 13.

Police say they are aware of ongoing anti-social behaviour involving bikes in the Shotton Colliery area and will be increasing patrols.

Sean Ivey, who witnessed a biker in Shotton Colliery said the rider sprayed dirt over a car that was pulling out of Horn's Garden Centre, along with pedestrians and covered the road with mud.

He said: “People are fed up and unfortunately, many of these vandals do not care in the slightest.

"I know people who are afraid to walk past certain parts of our village at certain times, all because of the threat being posed – It’s so sad.”

Officers are asking members of the public to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour across the county.

A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said: “Peterlee police are aware of ongoing ASB involving bikes in the Shotton Colliery area and will be increasing patrols.

“As always, we’d ask residents to report any incidents of ASB to us via 101 or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
