Joseph Hardy, 12, had been last seen heading towards the Galleries area at 11.23am. He was at Lambton Park.

However, shortly before 1pm, a Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Twelve-year-old Joseph Hardy has just been found safe and well.

"Thank you so much for sharing our appeal and helping us."
