Woman pulled from side of River Wear as emergency services rally during rescue
HM Coastguard, RNLI and the North East Ambulance Services were called in by Northumbria Police just before 3.15pm today following an alert about the woman at the North Hylton riverside.
The teams, including the ambulance service's Hazardous Area Response Team and the RNLI's inshore lifeboat crew, secured the woman in a stretcher.

Hide AdWooden pallets were put down on the mud banks to aid the rescue and she was then transfered to Sunderland Marina.
Coastguard officers said she was handed into the care of a St John's Ambulance Brigade Unit and taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital in a concious state.
