Woman arrested over alleged abusive message about Bradley Lowery released without charge

The 24-year-old woman from the Hartlepool area was arrested in December on suspicion of posting an abusive message about five-year-old cancer battler Bradley on Facebook, and of abstracting electricity.

She was released on bail at the time, but has now been released from her bail conditions.

Police say the case is not closed and their investigations are continuing.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "The woman has been released without charge, but inquiries continue."

Bradley's story has touched the hearts of people around the world.

The youngster's family, from Blackhall, were told before Christmas that the neuroblastoma he is battling for a second time was terminal.

However, he continues to undergo pioneering treatment in a bid to prolong his life.

Fundraising is also continuing as his family continue their hope of getting Bradley to America for more pioneering treatment.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised by well-wishers as part of the campaign.

Bradley has been particularly well-backed by the world of football, after appearing as a mascot for his beloved Sunderland AFC in September.

In fact, Sunderland's opponents that night, Everton, donated £200,000 to the appeal after the match, and have since invited Bradley to Goodison Park to be their mascot.

Bradley was Sunderland's mascot again in December when the Black Cats took on Chelsea at the Stadium of Light.

Fans chanted his name and a video of Bradley meeting the players before the game - including his favourite, Jermain Defoe - went viral.

The goodwill towards the youngster has continued since then, particularly over the Christmas period.

More than 200,000 Christmas cards were sent to Bradley from across the globe as people showed their support.
