Will Smith half-century as Durham batsman warms up for Leicestershire clash

After a loss to Kent inside two days and a wash-out at Northants, Durham’s players are short on match practice heading into the visit of Leicestershire to the Emirates Riverside on Friday.

Smith made 51 not out, with nine fours, in Durham seconds’ second innings against Scotland on the second day of the three-day friendly at the Riverside.

Smith was joined by Stuart Poynter (25no) as Durham reached 129-2, still 217 runs behind Scotland, who made 528 all out in response to the hosts’ opening 182.

Mike Jones made 25, opening alongside Smith, while Graham Clark was out for 18. In the Scots’ innings, Ryan Pringle took 4-102 and Liam Trevaskis 3-51.
