Whitburn - Down Your Way

South Bents Townswomen's Guild meets tomorrow in Whitburn Methodist Church hall for at 7pm. The committee will meet at 6.30pm prior to craft class. Next Wednesday, January 27, The Three Wise Men will entertain at the social studies meeting from 7pm to 9pm. This will be a fun evening to which friends, family, neighbours, local residents, male or female, are invited and will be made most welcome.

A traditional Burns Night Supper will be held in Whitburn Parish Church hall on Friday at 7.30pm. Tickets, costing £12, are available from Jean Atkinson on 529 3574 and include broth, haggis with bashed neeps and champit tatties, entertainment, raffle and dancing, expertly led by the Scottish Country Dance Society. Take along your own liquid refreshment.

Tanz Academy of Dance is starting new performing arts classes incorporating all styles of dance with musical theatre and drama on Saturdays at 9am in the Barnes Institute. Children of all ages are welcome. No previous experience is needed but enthusiasm and willingness to take part in shows, medal/grade testing and competitions will be welcome. The Cultural Spring Choir, Singing with Music in the Minster, meets tonight at 7.15pm in the Barnes Institute. All are welcome to attend and can join at any point during the current term. Musical knowledge is not required and a voluntary contribution of £2 per session would be welcome.

The recycling textiles workshop with textile artist Kath Price is on Thursday this week and next from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. There will be a further two Thursday workshops next month and March and two masterclass sessions on Saturdays, January 30, and March 5 from 10am to 2pm. A voluntary donation of £2 per session would be appreciated. Booking is advisable for the workshops and essential for the masterclasses on [email protected] . Coffee mornings take place every Saturday morning in Whitburn Methodist Church hall and the lunch club is on Thursdays from noon to 1.30pm. Soup, sandwiches, salad, sweet, unlimited tea or coffee and stimulating conversation are available for £3 and all are welcome.
