South Bents Townswomen's Guild meets tomorrow in Whitburn Methodist Church Hall at 7pm. Peter Barron will give a talk entitled Cloudy, Rain Later. Next Wednesday, February 17, the committee will meet at 6.30pm prior to craft class at 7pm.

The Cultural Spring Choir, Singing with Music in the Minster, continues tonight at 7.15pm in the Barnes Institute. All are welcome to attend and can join at any point during the term. Musical knowledge is not required and a voluntary contribution of £2 per session would be welcome. There will be no meeting on Tuesday, February 16.

Souter Lighthouse, the gift shop and tea room, reopens on Saturday. Get crafty activities for children aged from three will be available each weekday of half term, February 15 to 19, from 11am to 4pm. There will be opportunities to build a bird box on Monday, Wednesday and Friday or a miniature lighthouse on Tuesday and Thursday of that week. The cost is £3 per craft, per child. Whitburn Parish Church 100 Club subscriptions at 50p per week are due, payable either six-monthly, £13 x 2 or annually, £26. Prizes of £25, £15 and £10 are awarded each month. To allow time for administration, both the January and February draws will take place at the end of this month. Grateful thanks go to all participants for their support. This year’s aim is to achieve 100 members so if you would like to join, contact John Shield on 07544 908 838. All proceeds go towards church expenses and funds.

A coffee mornings take place every Saturday morning in Whitburn Methodist Church hall and Churches Together Lunch Club is on Thursdays from noon to 1.30pm. Soup, sandwiches, salad, sweet, unlimited tea or coffee and stimulating conversation are available for £3 and all are welcome. Tanz Academy of Dance holds performing arts classes incorporating all styles of dance with musical theatre and drama on Saturdays at 9.30am in the Barnes Institute. Children of all ages are welcome. The Barnes Institute has many regular activities including line dancing, children’s confidence boosting classes, Tai Chi, karate, card craft, ukulele group, a well-equipped reasonably priced gym and dog training classes.
