Whitburn - Down Your Way

Today from 11am to 3pm, a free micro-chipping session for dogs and puppies is being held in the Barnes Institute. This has been organised by the Dogs Trust in conjunction with South Tyneside Homes and South Tyneside Council. A Check-your-Chip service and basic health check will also be available, but any treatment required will necessitate a visit to a veterinary surgeon at your expense. All dogs should be wearing a collar and lead and be with a handler over 18 years of age.

South Bents Townswomen’s Guild meets tomorrow in Whitburn Methodist Church hall at 7pm for Social Studies. Speaker Amanda will talk about Sugar Paste. Next Wednesday, May 4, ladies will support Sunderland Federation coffee morning in St Mary’s Church hall, Bridge Street, hosted by Seaham Central Guild.

Souter Lighthouse, the gift shop and tea room are open daily from 11am to 5pm. On Sunday from 5am to 8am, join Souter Rangers and the local Coastal Conservation Group on an early morning ramble taking in the wonderful sounds of the dawn chorus. On Friday mornings, a new exercise class, Actify, has started in the Barnes Institute at 10am. Actify is a fun way to get fit for those who need to be seated but wish to enjoy low impact exercise and non-intense workouts. Tanz Academy of Dance performing arts classes incorporating all styles of dance with musical theatre and drama has recommenced on Saturday mornings at 10am in the Barnes Institute. Children of all ages are welcome. No previous experience is needed but enthusiasm and willingness to take part in shows, medal/grade testing and competitions will be welcome.
