South Bents Townswomen's Guild Committee meets tomorrow in Whitburn Methodist Church hall at 6.30pm, prior to craft class at 7pm. Next Wednesday, May 25, the Chairman's At Home luncheon will be held in the Britannia, Cleadon, meeting at noon for 12.30pm. There will be no evening Guild meeting.

Whitburn Local History Group will meet on Friday in the Barnes Institute from 2pm to 3.30pm. Brian Hastings will talk about Whitburn 1720 to 1840. Admission is £2 and all are welcome to attend.

The Barnes Institute is available for hire for one-off events such as children’s parties and can accommodate a bouncy castle. Please contact Carol Shield on 07767 156 134 for more information. A coffee morning is held every Monday and Wednesday from 10am until noon to which all are welcome. Coffee mornings take place every Saturday in Whitburn Methodist Church hall and Churches Together Lunch Club is on Thursdays from noon to 1.30pm. Soup, sandwiches, salad, sweet, unlimited tea or coffee and stimulating conversation are available for £3 and all are welcome. Regular free activities at Whitburn Library include: Baby Bounce – gentle knee bouncing, finger and action rhymes for babies on Mondays from 10am to 10.30am; Library Storytots – stories, crafts and songs for pre-school children on Tuesdays from 2.30pm to 3.30pm and on Thursdays, Mat Making from 10.30am to noon and friendly Knit and Natter from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
