South Bents Townswomen's Guild meets tomorrow in Whitburn Methodist Church hall at 7pm. There will be a committee meeting at 6.30pm prior to craft class at 7pm. Next Wednesday, November 23, will be Social Studies with a pie and peas supper.

St Vincent’s Catholic Church, Mill Lane, Christmas fair is on Saturday from 11am to 1pm. Entry is free and there will be various stalls including crafts, bric-a-brac, savouries, cakes and tombola. All are welcome.

Souter Lighthouse, the gift shop and tea room are open daily from 11am to 5pm until Sunday, November 27. This Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, Souter’s popular Christmas craft fair offers visitors the chance to avoid the hassle of the high street and relax while browsing handmade crafts, gifts, cards, jewellery and much more. On Thursday, go along to South Shields’ Market Place for the festive lights switch on by one of the UK’s biggest boy bands, 5ive, featuring original band members Ritchie, Scott and Sean performing some of their biggest hits. Next to The Word, there will be a glittering Christmas tree as well as nearby, the launch of Christmas Wonderland with stunning light displays in St Hilda’s Church Gardens.

Regular free activities at Whitburn Library include: Baby Bounce – gentle knee bouncing, finger and action rhymes for babies on Mondays from 10am to 10.30am, Library Storytots – stories, crafts and songs for pre-school children on Tuesdays from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, on Thursdays, Mat Making from 10.30am to noon and friendly Knit and Natter from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
