According to weather forecasters, Sunderland can expect to see some sunny spells as people enjoy a second week in the city’s pubs and restaurants, following the easing of lockdown.

This weekend will also see the return of grassroots sports with cricket to resume and outdoor swimming pools set to reopen on Saturday, July 11, following an announcement from the Culture Secretary on Thursday, July 9.

There’s still a few showers expected, so be prepared if you’re heading out. Here’s your day-by-day forecast.

Friday, July 10

Expect light rain changing to cloudy by lunchtime, with highs of 15C.

There is a 40% chance of showers in the evening.

Saturday, July 11

Conditions will be sunny, changing to light showers by lunchtime, with temperatures up to 18C.

There will a 30% chance of rain around 1pm and 6pm.

Sunday, July 12

Sunday should be a fine day, with sunny intervals changing to cloudy by late morning and highs of 20C.

The chance of rain is low.

The Met Office predicts a cloudy start to Friday with outbreaks of showery rain. Some sunny spells will develop by the afternoon, but with further showers and possibly thundery.

Friday night will see temperatures falling lower than previous nights.

Saturday will be fine with plenty of sunshine to start, but some cloud developing around the middle of the day and a maximum temperature of 18C.

Sunday will be another fine day.
