Weather warning for heavy rain with potential flooding across North East

The warning is set to be in force from midnight on Tuesday, January 19, and last until 12pm on Thursday, January 21, as the region braces for the wet weather.
Forecasters are predicting that temperatures will be no higher than 7°c over the three-day period – however, it could feel colder due to breezy conditions, especially near the coast.

Hide AdTuesday and Wednesday look set to be the worst hit with the rain expected to ease off as we head into Thursday morning.
The Met Office website said: “Potentially very wet, with a band of rain stalling over the region. Rather cold with extensive low cloud, coupled with persistent and occasionally heavy rain and some snow over hills. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
"Heavy rain potentially continuing Wednesday. Notably colder Thursday, with a risk of gales and more widespread snow, ahead of a brighter but colder end to the week with wintry showers.”

The weather is looking much drier on Friday, January 22, and we could expect some sunny spells as we head into the weekend.
