Organised once again by Angie Rathbone, from Washington Running Club, the event saw runners set off from Biddick Hall Academy on Sunday wearing a variety of festive costumes.

About 20 runners- including those from Sunderland Strollers and Saltwell Harriers – took part in the run which aimed to raise vital funds for charity Hope 4 Kidz.

Angie said was pleased with the turn out for the event and said she hopes it will raise as much as possible for the charity.

She said: “It’s better weather for it this year, as last year it was really icy.

“A lot of people take running seriously, but this is just a bit of fun to raise money for a good cause.”
