Second-bottom Red Star took an 18th-minute lead, when Harry Thompson slid the ball past visiting goalkeeper Lee Burrell.

But West End rallied and equalised 12 minutes later, when Mark Catcheside found Luke Taylor in the box, and he fired home from 15 yards.

Taylor pounced on a loose ball to give West End a 2-1 lead on 38 minutes, and just after half-time it was 3-1 when Layton Chapman headed home.

In the last minute, sub Dan Robinson scored at the far post after more good work from Catcheside.

Ashbrooke Belford House were well beaten by 3-0 by visitors Richmond Town, who are now up to second place, 12 points behind Jarrow but with four games in hand.

Liam Darville’s 20th-minute opener was followed by Kalumn Holbrook’s 25-yarder early in the second half.
