WATCH: When David Bowie played at Sunderland's Roker Park
As the world mourns the loss of music legend David Bowie, thousands of his fans in Sunderland will be remembering the great man's performance in Wearside.
Bowie was one of a number of top acts to play the city in its rich musical history, taking to the stage at Roker Park on June 23, 1987,as part of his Glass Spider Tour.
It wasn't the most perfect performance, however, with Bowie mistakenly welcoming the crowd by shouting “Good evening, Newcastle.”
Heavy rain also fell throughout the gig, but for the thousands of fans who turned out, it was a magical time - and one they will be looking back on today with wonder.
