Richard Oglesby was spared jail over his shocking behaviour with an underage teen he met on Facebook in 2011 and underwent treatment to try and stop his

sexual offending.

Since then, the 26-year-old has breached orders designed to monitor his behaviour and has now been jailed after being trapped by a Dark Justice sting.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the group, who pose as children online to trackdown predators, had set up a profile on a messaging site called Scout, posing as a girl called Hayley.

Oglesby made contact with the profile late last year then quickly said "bye" when told it belonged to a 13-year-old.

But the court heard, within weeks, Oglesby got in touch with the underage profile again and initially engaged in friendly chat which quickly turned sexual.

Prosecutor Emma Dowling told the court: "He asked 'do you want some company in bed'

"Eleven minutes later, he sent another message asking 'are you a virgin?'."

The court heard the graphic chat developed into Oglesby sending the girl a picture of his private part with the caption 'mmm, you like?' and asking for naked pictures of the schoolgirl in exchange.

When Oglesby turned up to meet the girl, so he could "get a kiss", he was confronted by Dark Justice and drove off.

The group, who have been responsible for dozens of convictions of potential paedophiles, tracked him to his home - recording their conversation - before contacting police and handing over a file of evidence about him.

Oglesby, of Birrell Street, Town End Farm, Sunderland, admitted attempting to meet a child after grooming.

Judge Amanda Rippon sentenced him to two years behind bars with a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and 10 years on the Sex Offenders' Register.

The judge told him: "You began conversations with what you understood to be a 13-year-old girl.

"The conversations were relatively platonic for the first few weeks but that changed and you decided you would ask her whether or not she was a virgin and whether she wanted company in bed.

"You knew it was wrong.

"The messages continued, you wanted to meet her, kiss her, cuddle her.

"You knew it was wrong, you made it plain during the messages."

The court heard it was in August 2011 Oglesby was given a community order or having sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl and he has breached court orders relating to that conviction since.

Judge Rippon told him: "I am quite satisfied you pose a risk to underage girls, girls under 16."

Jacqueline Coxon, defending, told the court Oglesby fails to appreciate "sexual boundaries" but did not intentionally set out to chat to a child when he went on the site.

Miss Coxon added: "He is a hard working young man who has had a decent upbringing.

"He accepts there is still work that need to be done to prevent further offending."
