WATCH: Catch a glimpse of rare Lego animals at WWT Washington

An otter will make up the pieces which will go on show at Washington WWT.

WWT Washington will give visitors the chance to get up close to giant versions of its birds and beasts, while they see the real-life versions on their tour of the park.

The guest display will go on show from Thursday, with some of the sculptures up to 12 times the size of the wildlife they depict.

They will include a gigantic otter, a super-sized crane and a huge goose, with youngsters to be given the chance to win their own Lego kit.

Centre manager Gill Pipes said: “Visitors to WWT Washington are already familiar with the real life versions of the rare and endangered animals we protect here at the centre.

“To have giant Lego brick versions of these animals is exciting beyond description.

“The nine animals are made up of over 120,000 Lego bricks and took over 900 hours to build.

Visitors to one of the WWTs sites meets a kingfisher constructed as part of its Lego project.

“We’re not expecting our those coming to our Lego workshop to put that many hours in, but they will have the responsibility of providing mammy duck with a brood of ducklings and building her a vehicle to safely transport them, so they’ve still got a very important job to do.”

The celebration will run until Sunday, April 17, with the trail included in the admission price.

Workshops offering a host of challenges for those aged four and over will also run twice daily until Sunday, April 10, as well as the weekend of April 16 and 17, from 11am to noon and 1pm to 2pm, with tickets £8.50 and places to be booked in advance.
