Washington pupils get a healthy start to the day

Pupils at a city primary are getting the day off to a flying start by tucking into a healthy breakfast.

Food company, Greggs, in partnership with Keytree Ltd, are sponsoring a free breakfast club at Barmston Village Primary School for two years.

Representatives from the company went along to the Washington school to officially open the club, which provides a nutritious start to the day for 50 children.

Gail Kelly, bursar at the school, said they are delighted and already 99% full for the breakfast club.

She said: “Greggs provides all of the bread free and donated croissants for the opening ceremony.

“Children eat their breakfast, including cereal, toast, yoghurts and juice, in a relaxed and friendly environment.”
