Washington power to big win

A 38 break saw Stephen Thompson win the first frame against Stephen Tate 68-36 before Roful Hoque won the second - beating Graham Smith on the final black 52-46.

A 24 break helped Norman Leslie win the third frame 54-20 and Gavin Dixon won the fourth 71-48 against Rod Turnbull.

In the pairs, Stephen Thompson and Norman Leslie completed the whitewash by beating Graham Smith and Terry Froud 71-47.

Current Summer League champions Whitburn travelled to Seaham Conservatives B and started well with John Smith winning the first frame on the final black against Robin Midson 53-51.

Joe Cromby quickly won the second frame 52-18 before Jimmy Ashcroft pulled one back for Seaham, beating Mark Fox 77-40.

Tony Hazard restored Whitburn’s two-frame lead, winning a close fourth frame against Colin Dobson 52-43 before Mark Fox and Graeme Ablett won the pairs 56-43 for the 4-1 win.

Gary Stockton got Seaham Conservatives A off to a good start away at The Hetton Centre, winning the first frame against Paul Nord 80-26.

Steven Maratty won the second frame 65-35 against Paul Stoves before Steven Rushworth and Les Pinder had a tussle in the third frame before Les won on the final black 48-47.

Joe Nord pulled one back for Hetton, beating Michael Monaghan in another final black ball frame 59-57, before Steven Maratty and Les Pinder won the pairs match 61-43.

Mill View went ahead at home to Lumley when Adrian Daniel potted well to beat Martin Ball on the final black 63-59. Andrew Drinkwater dominated the second frame 65-6 to level before Brian Meuse won a close third frame beating John Spruce 61-49.

Sean Henderson won the fourth frame against Steve Chandler 73-46 before teaming up with Jimmy Jackson to win the pairs against Gary Simpson and John Spruce 63-32 for the 4-1 win.

The match between Steels and Glendale alternated into a 2-2 situation before Glendale took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Pennywell Comrades claimed a 3-2 win at Biddick B, while The Victory won by the same scoreline against Murton Colliery.

Darren Dowell was in impressive form as he dominated the second frame to win.
