Today is a massive day in the future of bowls in Washington , North Biddick, Usworth and Washington Glebe Bowls Club as the clubs will be finding out the results of a council review of bowls provision in the city. Due to budget cuts the council is looking to close a number of greens and merge clubs together. This will be a great loss to older people who use the clubs for exercise and to socialise.

Washington Wetlands has a special Walk With A Warden opportunity on Sunday at 2pm, normal admission prices apply. This is your chance to enjoy an informative walk around the wetlands in the company of a Wildlife Reserve Warden who will point out all the latest seasonal highlights including the new baby otters.

Washington Manor Care Home is holding a fundraising night for residents in the Washington Gardeners Club on Tueday, July 26, from 7pm to 11pm. The evenings entertainment will include karaoke, disco, bingo, raffles, name the teddy and name the popstar competitions. Tickets are £1, available from the Washington Gardeners Club or Washington Manor.

Washington Theatre Group presents their adaptation of The Great Gatsby on 28th,29th and 30th of July at the Washington Arts Centre at 7.30pm tickets £6.
