Van fire under investigation after blaze on Sunderland street

A probe is being carried out after a van caught light during the early hours.

The Ford Transit was parked in Fordham Road, Ford Estate, Sunderland, when it was found on fire at 3.30am today.

Firefighters, including two wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

The front of the vehicle, including the engine compartment and part of the cab, was left damaged.
