Part of the car park of the Tesco supermarket at Monkweamouth has been cordoned off.
A section of the roof paneling was clearly visible hanging down and the top of the van has also been damaged.
At least two fire appliances were called to the scene, though one left shortly after arrival.
It is not known whether anyone has been hurt.
