Northumbria Police was called to the A1231 at 10.30am today, Friday, March 5, following the incident at the junction with the Northern Spire Bridge.
It led to one lane being closed off at the pedestrian crossing on the westbound section of the road and caused disruption in the area for more around an hour.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We attended the scene but nobody was seriously injured.
"The road is partially blocked but we are hoped it will be cleared soon.”
She was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle by ambulance, with the Great North Air Ambulance called in to help paramedics following the collision at 5.15pm on Saturday, February 27.
