A Northumbria Police spokesperson added: “At about 7.20am we received a report of a man behaving in an aggressive manner on a Metro as it approached Newcastle International Airport.

"Officers attended the Metro when it arrived at the station and a man was spoken to by police. He was issued with words of advice and left the Metro voluntarily.

"No further action has been taken and the Metro service resumed accordingly.”
